One of the questions I’m quietly asking throughout mediation has nothing to do with whether an agreement sounds fair.
I’m asking whether it will survive an ordinary Tuesday.
Not the day everyone signs it.
Six months later.
Somebody’s running late. Soccer practice changed. A child forgot their lunch. Publix is packed because, for reasons nobody can explain, the entire neighborhood decided they needed chicken tenders at exactly 5:30.
Can this agreement survive that day?
Because families don’t live inside mediation sessions. They live inside ordinary Tuesdays. The best agreements aren’t the ones that read beautifully on paper. They’re the ones that still work when life becomes inconvenient.
